#6 in the valley

Ever since the pandemic, life has taken a dramatic shift for us all. Personally, 2020 provided more clarity on what really matters (mental, physical and spiritual health, family, love), while 2021 thus far has been a year of transformation and acceleration. If we haven’t already realized, we’re receiving a crash course on understanding that life is indeed short and we must cherish the moments with the people we love.

mamba day

The date was May 24th, 2016, it was my first official day working with Michael B. Jordan. Having no idea what to expect on day one, I arrive at Mike's house. As he casually told me the agenda for the day, it was explained we were headed to Newport Beach because he had to shoot some stuff with Kobe. “KOBE!?!” I inquired, trying to play it off cool as if it was just another day on the inside but knowing damn well I was about to meet Kobe again, for the second time *gasps*.

i've got five on it

Today I celebrate my 5 year anniversary of living in LA and I’m writing this with a deep sense of gratitude. Many of us are dealing with a lot right now and for the first time in a very long time, I have found a somewhat safe and relatively quiet space amongst the chaos. There was a profound revelation that was revealed to me that provided a new found sense of patience and restored faith. I tweeted in the early stages of the pandemic that I hoped to pick up some good habits during my quarantine and by the looks of it, it actually happened.

pray everyday

Pray for clarity and direction in this time, pray for good health and protection when you go out for your essentials. Pray for resources to cover your rent and bills. Pray for the well being of your loved ones. Anything else at this point is a bonus and God’s favor. In this time I hope you realize what really matters, what never did and what always will.

get comfortable being uncomfortable

At this point I believe we have more mental distractions than we’ve ever had before. Social media can be a cesspool of misinformation and mental manipulation and with that comes outrage, sadness, and despair. But even with that, I sincerely hope that you are able to recognize that there are also beacons of hope, optimism and ingenuity. As a creative, this is an opportune time to buckle down and figure out ways to keep creating. Even if you don’t identify as a creative there’s still an opportunity come up with at least one solution for each one of your problems.
